Help This Year’s Festival Get Sponsored!

February 13th, 2018 by

The 2017 was the first year that we actively sought out businesses to sponsor the Ethnic Food Festival. We sent out letters a couple months ahead of time, but quickly found that many businesses determine what they will be doing with their charitable funds in the first quarter of the year.

This year we are starting early!

Linked to this blog is the sponsorship letter that the Festival Committee drafted. Please send it to any businesses that may be interested in contributing. In return, they will receive ad space in the festival flyer. We are also willing to work with them for other sponsorship opportunities such as banners.

Please use the link below to track any business you have contacted.

Thank you for your assistance! With your help, the 2018 festival will be our best festival yet!

Festival Spotlight: Driscoll School of Irish Dance

October 4th, 2017 by

The Driscoll School promotes a healthy, balanced lifestyle for all dancers, and we welcome new beginners throughout the year.  We pride ourselves on being a renowned program that gives children self-confidence, poise, and a fit body and mind both on and off the dance floor. Driscoll is a family friendly school where your child will learn the skill of Irish Dance while building character, having fun and developing lifelong friendships.  Our teachers genuinely care about the students and want to build relationships with the dancers and their families.  Each dancer is different and we respect those differences and work with the individual to reach the dancer’s goals.

Driscoll Irish Dance classes are taught to children and adults of all ages with an emphasis on individual attention. The Driscoll School of Irish Dance is a member of An Coimisiun le Rinci Galeacha (CLRG), the governing body of Irish Dance, and our main instructors are all certified teachers within the organization.

The school believes in building self-esteem and self-fulfillment of students through positive reinforcement and encouragement. Dancers have the opportunity to take part in public performances such as festivals, cultural celebrations, private events, the St. Patrick’s Day Parades, and television appearances. The Driscoll Dancers also take part in local, regional, national, and world competitions.

Festival Spotlight: Sarmale

September 18th, 2017 by

Found in the cuisines of the former Ottoman Empire from the Middle East to the Balkans and Central Europe, “sarmale” is enjoyed year round in Romania.

On every holiday and main event, but especially on Pascha and Christmas, “sarmale” are present on every Romanian table. The smell of a cooking pot of “sarmale” will entice you to join the feast.

What is sarmale?

We start with homemade pickled cabbage, by carefully separating the leaves and laying them flat.
The filling is prepared by mixing ground pork and ground beef to which we add cooked rice, tomato paste, and chopped onion seasoned with savory, pepper, and bay leaves.
We fill each cabbage leaf with the meat mixture and roll them.
The rolled “sarmale”are covered with bacon and cooked until golden brown.

What will we serve?

At our festival you can enjoy the “sarmale” dish, not in a rolled form, but rather in layers of homemade sauerkraut and meat mixture.
We will serve our dish with bread, sour cream, and hot peppers.

Hope to see you all at our Romanian table.

Poftă bună!

Calling All Festival Sponsors!

July 24th, 2017 by

St. Basil’s Ethnic Festival is not only a joyous celebration of our cultural diversity, but an avenue to share our faith with our community. However, our festival is no small expense. We are looking to partner with local businesses to make this year’s festival a great success. We are calling on all our members to reach out to businesses to sponsor this years festival. Sponsorships will not only offset the cost of the festival, but businesses will get exposure through ads in our festival brochure, which is handed out to everyone who attends the event.

Below is a link to the sponsorship letter that you can give to potential sponsors. It contains contact information and sponsorship levels.

Thank you for your support!
